OCTOBER: SARAH SEDWICK/JASON WASKEY

Featuring Sarah Sedwick and Jason Waskey

Artist Reception October 3rd, 2015

Sarah Sedwick paints with gusto. She avidly paints every day, and loves still-life, landscape, and figurative work equally. For this month's show she brings a series of still-life paintings featuring floats and flora.

In her work, Sarah particularly focuses on economical brush work that describes light and form while never betraying the fact a stroke of paint is really just a patch of color.

A new home coupled with a summer filled with dramatic skies has inspired gallery artist Jason Waskey to paint skyscapes of South Whidbey Island and Saratoga Passage.

In his first year experiencing the shifting of light and season on the Island, Jason was particularly attracted to the transition from day to night. "The interplay between the sky, land, and water is just fascinating, and there's no better time to me than when the sun is setting... or has just set," says Jason. "I am especially drawn to how cloud cover sets the mood for an image, whether a blanket of clouds makes things feel soft and quiet, or the setting sun creates drama."
